Fine art portraits & creative day | Joana

Learning from others is one of my favourite things to do, which is why I was so excited to be invited to a creative day by my friend Barbara! She hosted a small gathering of photographers, along with a model, hair and makeup, to give us a chance to visit and photograph together. As photographers, we tend to feel really drained this time of year. Wedding season has ended, but we’re all scrambling madly to finish our editing before Christmas! We become hermits and spend all day, every day inside editing. We don’t shower, we don’t change out of our pajamas, and some days we don’t even leave the house. Gross, right? Barbara also arranged for Treena from Salvage + Bronze to show us all how to create Himmelis. We took a break to craft together and chat. Barbara was so kind to spend time and money to host a day where we could all get out of the house together and not only hang out, but create some awesome and weird portraits. I am so thankful to have friends like these.

I went into the day not sure exactly what I’d get out of it for myself. I’ve been feeling quite creatively drained over the last little while. I don’t know why I worried because the fine art portraits I took are some of my favourites to date. I would love to hear what you think of them!

Our amazing model Joana has recently arrived from Germany to pursue her dream of becoming a model. Be sure to go give her some support on Instagram!
Huge thanks to our hair and makeup artists, Stephanie H and Tiiu Antrea!
