Winter Wedding at St. Albert’s Enjoy Centre

When I photographed Alyssa and Nolan’s wedding on February 15, 2020, I had no idea that their wedding would be one of my only weddings of 2020. How nuts is that?! I can’t believe the luck these two had: they were able to have the wedding of their dreams at the St. Albert Enjoy Centre, and jet off on their gorgeous French Polynesian honeymoon just a couple weeks later, getting back just in time for self-isolation rules to kick in. Alyssa and Nolan had one of the most relaxed, love-filled weddings I’ve ever had the pleasure of witnessing. The vibe the entire day was so chill, and it made the biggest difference!

Mondern winter Wedding at the Enjoy Centre In St. Albert

Getting ready

I met the girls at the JW Marriott, where the ladies sipped mimosas and had a relaxed morning with friends getting ready for the day ahead! I adored the bridesmaids’ beautiful burgundy dresses, and Alyssa’s elevated glam ponytail that she chose to wear on her wedding day. Meanwhile at Alyssa and Nolan’s home, Nolan was getting ready with his best friends and brothers (and their super cute pup Poppy!) They toasted with their new tumblers that Nolan had personalized for each of them.

First look

Alyssa and Nolan chose to have their first look in one of the JW Marriott’s lounges before we moved on to our wintry natural area for their bridal party photos. Luck was on our side again with a relatively mild winter day, and we continued on to the Enjoy Centre. Thankfully the ladies still packed gorgeous fluffy pink jackets to keep them warm!

A private greenhouse ceremony

It was very important to Alyssa and Nolan that Nolan’s uncle be the one to marry them. Since it wasn’t able to be made completely legal at the time, they made sure to include one more official ceremony right before their symbolic one, with just their parents and siblings present. Then, they said their handwritten vows and exchanged rings in front of their family and friends. It was such a unique and thoughtful aspect to their day, made extra special. My favourite moment was when they played rock paper scissors under their arch to decide who had to read their vows first!

Reception in the Moonflower Room

The reception that followed was so simple and classic, with touches of green and gold that complimented the Moonflower Room perfectly. String lights twinkled above and on the tables, and decor was kept to simple greenery with small burgundy florals. On each place setting, Alyssa and Nolan left sparklers for their guests. These came into play in the evening, when they had their guests light up the sparklers and surround them for their first dance! Combined with fog provided by DJ Kwake, it was an incredibly joyful moment and such a dreamy first dance!

This wedding was featured on Confetti Wedding Magazine in April 2020!
